The Belstone Commoners' Association is a traditional, age-old association formed to represent those with registered Rights of Common to the fruits and products of the unenclosed land in and around the village.

By virtue of these Rights, the Commoners' Association is the principal point of local contact for the statutory bodies whose remits include the conservation management of Belstone Common for wildlife, access and amenity (i.e.Natural England and the Dartmoor National Park Authority). From time to time, and in close consultation with these bodies, the Commoners may be involved in bracken and scrub control, gorse burning (swaling) and firebreak maintenance, which also helps all residents to enjoy walking and riding on Dartmoor.

They also organise the 'Beating the Bounds' every seven years, where everybody who wishes to do so, walks around the Belstone Parish Boundary. It is a most enjoyable day out on Dartmoor - a day to be remembered by all - young and old alike.
