The South Tawton Garden Club (founded 1982) has a new name. After much discussion and bearing in mind the wide area from which the members come it has been decided to re-name the club - The 'North Dartmoor Garden Club'. The club meets on the fourth Thursday of the month in Belstone Village Hall 7.30pm. New members are always welcome.

October 6, 2008:
At the first Pudding Club in March 2006 we asked a) how the evening could be improved and b) how often it should happen. Answers to a) included "a stripping male waiter" and to b) "weekly if free beer" and "every other month, but husband says twice a week would be better". Well, these suggestions are still to be implemented as the original format of ten puds once a quarter seems to go down well with the regulars.
The Autumn Pudding Club brings the chance to sample the delights of pumpkin pie, syrup tart and pear, apple, ginger and chocolate crumble. So put Saturday 25 October, Belstone Village Hall in your diary and come along and tuck in.
Last time the evening raised over £200 for the Children's Hospice South West; this time the beneficiary is another very worthwhile charity, Shelter Box, which provides emergency aid for victims of natural and other disasters around the world.

October 6, 2008:
Having spent the entire preceding fortnight wondering if the main event at the Fair would be “Swimming in the Puddles”, the Committee were delighted to wake up to the sunniest day for a long time! The ‘weather-frustrated’ crowds flocked to join us in the beautiful setting overlooking Cosdon Beacon and the busy, happy atmosphere continued from the opening until well after the suggested finish time. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the go-kart race, full of thrills and spills and plenty of action for the spectators. This new event was won by Tom Shillibear and Toby Wratten who received the Taikoo Cup, presented by the Bernays family. Well done to all the families who participated and made and decorated the wonderful range of go-karts (and wore such fine costumes!). We look forward to next year’s race with eager anticipation.Read the full story
