Road Closure in Belstone - Tongue End to Belstone Cross
By RJH

November 11, 2009:

There has been a certain amount of chaos and confusion about the road closure in Belstone. This news item includes the notice put up in the village by the Parish Council about the road closure and explaining the advisory one way system. Please be aware though that not all vehicles are able to follow this voluntary system due to the narrowness of the roads and some people are not following the system, partly because of the bad signing, so you may meet traffic coming 'the wrong way'. It is possible that the work will be completed before the deadline and the road re-opened.
Parish Council Notice

This road will be closed from 2nd November to 11th December while a trench is dug by Fujitsu for a new BT telephone cable. This will enable broadband cover for the village. A one-way system will be in place, with traffic coming into Belstone via Priestacott and Tor Down and leaving via Skaigh Lane and Sticklepath. Neither road alone has the capacity for two-way traffic of any volume, but it should be possible if the traffic is all going one way. Access to the village car park and neighbouring houses will be maintained. Fujitsu has taken care to avoid the main holiday times of half term and Christmas and will endeavour to complete the work well within the time, most being done within the first two weeks. Please phone any queries about this closure to them on 01395 239202 or 07799074809

Sarah Blacksell, Parish Clerk
